  • Old School

I had a 3DS MAX model sent to me, which was done by the architect, and they developer wants me to redo it. They sent me the model to see if I could use it, which I can, however, it was built old school. Not that it's wrong, but they faked GI with lights around the building and underneath, shinning up to illuminate the bottom of things. I remember doing this 20 years ago; kind of strange to see it in practice today. Also, a lot of RPC's, which again, is old school. I am pretty impressed that they did a pretty good job with the tools they used.

Here are some stills I did using V-Ray and an HDRI+V-Ray Sun. What a house!

Is this the crowd from your other thread that wants those mansions?
This one looks like it can certainly be a fun one!

Yes, we agreed on a fee and they got this model from the architect, however, no textures.

Dreadful bit of architecture, but must be quite exciting to be involved in this Bobby. Can't you convince them to do a walkthrough too?
        Kind Regards,

I wouldn't say dreadful. I am pretty sure with the right texture and mood lighting you can do some really cool stuff. Probably not what anyone has in mind when they want to sell this though :P

I would love to work on exterior projects this size again. I used to do a lot of hotels and resorts a few years ago.
On the other hand, I am doing a lot more HUGE interiors than before.
            Kind Regards,
            Morne

That's why I took it. To get really good at huge houses might open me up for more larger projects.

Large projects are fun. And because you're further away in the exteriors, these actually render much faster also

I have 5-6 projects in front of that one, so I am trying to clean off my schedule so I can spend some decent time on it.
