  • What the heck am I snapping to?

Okay, this isn't exactly a new issue, for me, but I'm now sick of it enough to inquire!
So, I'm working in object isolation mode, with only two objects. Using 3d snaps, and the snaps are snapping to what appears to be the hidden geometry.
I try using only "vertex" mode for example, and no change, it snaps to invisible viewport.

Any idea how to make this stop happening, please?

    Thanks in advance!

my 3d snap often decides to snap to frozen objects - usually when my 2.5d snap decides to behave like 3d. closing and re-opening max usually fixes it. snaps still get very confused if i've had the same file open for more than a few hours.

I was gonna say the same thing as zoranm, how far away are you from the center point 0.0.0?
And what's the scale you snap to considering your system units?
