i sometimes find when attaching loads of geometry together, that i end up with faces and elements with the wrong material assigned. i assume this is max getting confused trying to combine two meshes that already have multisub materials assigned and share faace id's
one of the things i have to do shortly is collapse the heck out of a vast model, and since i didnt make it, im not 100% sure which material goes where. i did a quick test and ended up with grass on a load of columns. that was rather obvious, but there may well be other more subtle mistakes that the client will see but i wont.
is there a 100% surefire way to attach meshes without messing up the materials?
