    is there any way to apply a "grow" or "shrink" to a face selection in the modifier stack?

    i wish to do this with the result of an animated vol.select so it must be independent of the base mesh (unlike the grow/shrink in editable poly)

    Kinda just soft select with an animated radius and falloff, otherwise if there's a way to drive the volume select with a texture map you might be able to animate the colours of those to drive the grow - what does the selection look like in terms of it's shape?

      ahh very random selection shape. im now playing with another method.. i cant really use a texture (f.e. distance tex) since the mesh is very dense and its *slooow* with a texture. much faster to use object intersection. and i dont believe the soft selection option will affect a "deletemesh" above.

        Someone made one with MCG but it's not exactly the same as the Editable Poly as MCG doesn't understand the poly structure exactly, but it does do an expand/contract procedurally.
