off topic: volumetric fog for post?

hi,

maybe anyone can help me here, i need to add realistic volumetric fog to a filmed sequence, to archieve a more dramatic effect.
could i archieve that with combustion or after effects out of the box? or is there a plugin for that?

Trapcode Shine is one of the beter ones for combustion/AE, but you can't always rely on post work only.
Some volumetrics are hard to achieve in post, so rendering out scanline passes with matte objects may be necessary in some cases, but can render out pretty quick
