sure enough, after 10 minutes it quit to desktop. Seems trying to work when the server goes down for maintenance is not an option anymore.
Last time we just made sure everyone grabbed a license and had it open then we were able to keep max open for as long as we wanted.

It's been like that for a while - I've noticed it at home when the VPN to the office disconnects.
