The autodesk 3ds max asset library is the one they integrated in max 2017 ?
I'm not sure I think you still need to download it separately. I installed max 2017 and it wasn't there (or maybe because I already had it installed manually). Anyway I will uninstall max and assets and will check it.
I wanted to start using connector a long time ago when it was first released - within minutes i'd sent them a feature request so that multiple people could use the same database at once, and as far as I know they've still not got it working.
Basically once one person opens max to browse the library, because they can edit it too, it locks out any other user on the network from accessing the same library. every user needs a unique one.
Edit: speak of the devil, on their dev blog it says it's coming april 25th. maybe in 4 days it'll be worth a look.
outside of that i really liked using it, it's very slick.
Can anyone test and see if the autodesk one can have one central database that multiple users can update and use at once? even if only one user can edit, if the other can open it read only that's fine. Might speed up our 2017 upgrade.

Howdy! Just a quick update on Connecter's Teamwork version before we post and official thread about it. Unfortunately, we won't be able to launch it on April 25th, but we are really close. You can expect it in the next few weeks. The team is working hard on polishing other features as well, including additions to our 3ds Max script.

Excellent, looking forward to it! Everything else about it was great.
I understand your focus is the furniture objects you are selling, but have you considered also supporting a library of materials?
Before we realized we wouldn't be able to use it over a network i'd already started to test a library of materials with it. it supports custom thumbnails so a scene with a box & the material can be used for each one. works well because it can hold proper UV's and displacement modifiers.

Very cool, didn't know that. Can it generate thumbnails?

Nicinus, there are many different ways to create thumbnails in Connecter. Maybe in the your case the most useful will be this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6d1-OzcUnc - generating thumbnail while sending the asset (box + material) from 3ds Max to Connecter. Then just change the material and do it again.
I do like the generation of previews, but what would you recommend if you have a folder of many existing objects? One by one?
The new release is almost ready - currently we are running internal testing and fixing minor bugs. We decided to re-design the website (www.connecterapp.com) for this major release and add more documentation and explanations of the features. This will slow us a little bit, but should be very useful for the first time users.
If you have many existing objects you can drag and drop them to Max and use the generate previews for all of them. The script will render them in a queue.
