  • Use ForestPack on a Railclone object?

Question is in the title, is this possible, because when I specify a RailClone object as a surface for distributing with FP on a specific material ID it just freezes my Max.

You can convert the RailClone object into a Polymesh.

Yes I know but it's quite heavy. What I'm trying to do is create concrete tiles with grass between them like so:

I've tried with creating a tile with some patches on a different material ID for the FP to distribute on, but it freezes when I select the RC object as a surface. I've also tried to use a regular plain for FP and RC object as an exclusion area but I get something like this:

Looks quite weird the tiles don't really match at all. Looks like a Xform problem but it's not.

I managed to get the exclude with railclone object a bit better, but now I get strange lines.

Is it not that you'd specify the railclone as an exclude area and just grow the forest on a simple surface underneath?

Someone (Rokas) made an excellent style like that on itoo forum...generally get best answers there, IMO
Maybe he'd share it with you, or you can see his thread and figure it out...

That's what I eventually did but not really there yet.

Waw that looks great. So they don't even use Railclone. I might give a full FP approach a try. Thanks.

I believe in his last solution, it was RC Pro...some earlier versions in thread, used both RC and FPP

Yeah I've noticed that too, I've already posted this problem to the itoo forums but no answer yet.
