its likely a permissions issue. are you running the manager as administrator? backburner is also fussy with windows firewall, but i guess on a single machine this should not be an issue.

do you ahve the slave/server showing up in the queue monitor as ready to accept a job (green icon)?

o scrap that, it works, i was saving it out to different file locations for specific reasons, it was a older batch render file, i however have another pc which is not being used at the moment, how do i add it as another server to say render some files? and say i want to pause rendering on the main pc how do i do that?

make sure your paths are UNC paths (asset tracker)

is it the same as Convert file paths to UNC in the perferences menue? so i need to do it in each file before i start backburner?

You can select all the files on the same drive and set the common root (can't remember the exact option name) in the asset tracker

No worries, after much reading i finally got it, i just mapped the folder to a network drive for all my work files and pointed the save output there, seems resolve output to unc didnt work or the convert paths option in the preferences, only issue now is figuring out how to use computers that are in a different location and not on my network

you really need them on the same network.. otherwise better to just manually load and render the file on the remote machine.

aha, thanks! i have access to 4 other powerful computers in an office would have to figure out some way to remotely use them since they are generally on at night and not in use

OK i have a new scenario, what if i wanted to send jobs to que via BB and have certain computers contribute to the rendering with DR but i want to choose each time in BB monitor which ones will just be DR slaves and which will do actual rendering, can BB and DR servers run at the same time? i currently have a main station and an extra pc but i want to sometimes use the extra pc for rendering and maybe sometimes to just contribute sometimes via DR but it doesn't have a monitor for itself so would be good that that computer always starts and runs BB server and DR spawner each time it starts if its even possibles so i can choose what it should do. Any advice here would really help. Also is it worth using DR if the slave pc is 4 times slower than the main pc that will do the actual renderings?

You can use computers in another location if you use VPN. It does complicate things a bit though. Some knowledge of computer networking, or help from the people running the office IT dep can be useful.

I currently run Backburner at the office where I have three powerful machines available 24/7, but I also connect to backburner from home, and submit jobs from my home computer and use my home computer as a render node while at the office.
