  • Anyone know of an animated tree for shadow casting only?

I'm looking for a tree model that I can use to cast some animated shadows (as though the leaves are gently blowing in the wind).

We used to use Onyxtree years ago, but the release I have doesn't work beyond Max2009 and an upgrade is too expensive for the test I want to try. Anyone know of an animated tree 'off-the-peg' to purchase?
    Kind Regards,
    Richard Birket

Or use an aec tree, collapse to mesh and put on a bend modifier and a soft selected volume select for the upper part fed into a noise modifier.

Good tip. Anyone still actually use Onyxtree? We use it when desperate. I strangely like it, though it does look like it has been 'designed' to run on a Commodore 64!

We got a license of Growfx a while back and with the video tip that itoo software put up about animating the seed control of a growfx model in conjunction with forest's animation controls for variation it's a very useful combination!

I haven't opened onyx since getting growfx.

but couldn't you just export a obj seq from onyx to get into a newer version of max?

I never really used treestorm anyway. i was going obj to vray proxies (once vray got proxies )
