  • V-Ray for Houdini and Blender

Now that there are V-Ray for Houdini beta versions in the daylies can we have a V-Ray for Houdini section in the forum please?

Also I know there is a V-Ray for Blender section but I don't see it in my forum display. How can I add it? I can see it on this link though: http://forums.chaosgroup.com/forumdi...ay-for-Blender

Yes, we'll make one soon when the project goes public on Github.

      Best regards,

I haven't tried it yet. I'm just keeping an eye on Blender cause when you look at stuff like the latest short made in Blender that won the jury's choise 2016 at siggraph ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-rmzh0PI3c ) and it's all made with free soft with a amazing photoreal look. I have to learn it cause I'm now competing with other freelancers who have no other cost than the Hardware. But at the same time I want to stay up to date with max/v-ray and all the plugins + I'm also learning Houdini cause the indie version is so cheap! the old costly apps always have something that can save your life on production with thigh deadlines but once blender has it all I would like to be ready to jump. But even then I'm sure I will still need V-Ray!

Maybe you can check on the vray for blender forum to see if your answer is there: http://forums.chaosgroup.com/forumdi...ay-for-Blender

i used to use blender for a time, its small but very robust almost never crashes, someone introduced me to 3ds max many years ago and i was hooked because everyone else was using the plugins that made life easier but now looking at the costs and what blender can do, its a heavy weight in the business

Vray for Blender has been a working program for quite a few years now. We are currently waiting on RT integration, so that's a major limitation right now. I've been using it mainly for archviz and also some animation.

If you have nightly access, it's running on the current vray 3.4. Just recently added the denoiser function in the recent builds Not sure what's the most recent version in the demo downloads.
Yes, it has all the regular vray features, of course adapted to the Blender interface. It's all there - proxy support, environmental effects, all the different light types and shapes, the multitude of vray tex types, etc.
