I have some CAD data of an aircraft slide. I can re-model the slide but I'm wondering if there is a way to using cloth modifier to simulate inflation (using positive pressure) from a collapsed (folded) position. Maybe I can manually deflate it and then use morphs or something like that. Does anyone have any other ideas on a way to do this ? It does feel like working backwards is the only option at the moment.

How to inflate an aircraft evacuation slide ?

sounds like a challenge.
looking at reference of slides deploying, https://youtu.be/nIq8Zjwzi2Y
It looks really tricky, with latches that are letting the parts open up as they inflate in a controlled way
I think I'd probably model it inflated - then try and do some sort of skinning/bones to control how it folds back up. And then for inflation - try using a vertex select with a push modifier that can slide across the geometry, making it look like it's inflating or deflating...Brendan Coyle | www.brendancoyle.com
