Replace all materials in scene

Is there an easy way to replace all materials ina scene without having to replace all geometry ? There are a lot of materials so if I can find an automatic way to do this it would save a lot of time.

I basically have a bunch of materials I've updated in one scene and need to replace an older scene with the same materials. The scene is set-up differently but will use the same materials.

I've actually replaced all the models and materials using the replace command already but it would be good to know if there is a different way to do this.

Save a material library from the new scene, go to old scene, update materials in scene from library (it takes 2 clicks)
