You're in luck. I did a shoot earlier in the fall and a portion of the landscaping was artificial turf. Here is a crop.

Here is a detail shot of the turf patch in all of its 56Mpix glory

      Hope this helps.

Most artificial turf these days looks almost identical to real grass. The only really difference is that you have less color spotting like you would with real grass, ie the yellow grass where the dogs whiz all of the times.

However you would normally do grass, do it the same way for artificial grass. Just make sure your greens are more close together for even color distribution, your grass lengths are pretty even, and you have even distribution of blades.

When I think sythetic grass I think of indoor/outdoor grass carpet, which is ugly as sin. I am thinking EasyGrass might work, since you can easily control the blade bend. But I guess that is easy done in FP, too. FLP, do you mind sharing the MAX? If it isn't too much to ask.

I'd love to....but we only did the photography of the completed landscaping. It should give you a good reference for building the CG (pssst, Forest Pack, best game in town).

            Cheers,

Got it, thanks. I guess I have to unlearn everything to make grass look real

Should be easy... 80% of renderings already look like they have synthetic grass. Use Forrest Pro to make normal grass that is even length, throw a consistent shader on that is slightly to saturated almost limey green in color.

I just use the standard FP clean grass preset. Looks artificial to me.
