They said that they are willing to pay a premium for the quick turnaround. Somebody claimed, so if that falls through, there probably isn't enough time to even think about the project, so their lack of planning is their problem, I guess.

I guess it depends on the project and if they're supplying models or not

          No, just cad file.

The thing with these is, quick turnaround on a short deadline, so you break you ass to meet it, but then they extend the deadline and make changes. I am working on one now that was dropped on me Friday afternoon, for a Monday morning brochure print. I got a low-resolution photo of a house and a rough PDF floor plan. I worked all weekend, emailed it Sunday night, and late last night (after the deadline mind you) I got a list of revisions. WHAAAAT? Now, it is impeding on my current project's deadline.

Jip, happens all the time. The FINAL deadline is in 2 days, you work your butt of to make it and sqeeuze that project in front of others waiting, then suddenly like magic, there's another 2 weeks till the actual deadline and you get 20 pages of revisions (because they're actually now only starting to design) and then your main projects suffer from the "quick 2 day" job that's suddenly 3 weeks long

And no, those kinds of clients dont read your t/c and still expect the 3 week job for the cost of the 2 day intial quote.

That being said, there's always the exception to the rule!

I have no ties to this person, so I am just sharing some experience.

It happens often; they think that they are being crafty. I am going to update my contract to address this. Also, I am going to start emailing bullet points from my contract, so it is firmly understood. I could hold my ground with clients, but if I push back to hard, they just won't return to me. I recently had to stop returning emails froma client who just got silly with total redesigns, moving of streets and roads at least a dozen times. They have some kind of game where they change project managers everytime they overstay their welcome, so they can get more changes, as if they don't know what happened with any previous changes and comminucations.
