  • .max viewer?

I have a client that I'd like to be able to share .max prop files with via dropbox. The trouble is that they don't have Max installed. Is there a good way for someone without Max to be able to get a visual representation on a .max file? I'm hoping that Design Connected's Connector app might be able to do this?

I don't know of any standalone viewers able to display.max files without having an instance of 3ds max running.

You could try the 3dsmax asset library, it's free. Edge is right, one of the biggest issues with max in big studios over the years has been that nothing can read or write .max except itself.

you could export the file as FBX and use the free Autodesk FBX viewer.

Have you looked at SketchFab? I'm not sure how much extra effort would be required to make your file SF friendly.

If you have A360 account, you can just add a Max file & share the viewer once it's translated. It's not an officially released or announced & not everything is supported (rigged characters, helpers, particles, animation), but if you collapse the scene, don't have to do any other translation or export yourself.
