    Plugin News: Max 7 plugins...

You have probably already seen the Discreet announcement for 3ds max 7. I have been waiting to find out whether plugins will need to be recompiled for the new version. The good news is that all max 6 plugins will work in max 7!

    Lets hope vray works ...

They probably had to recomile from 5-6 becuase of the core changes. There were changes in the rendering/network rendering. They (discreet) probably didnt do anything like that this time. The changes are all probably workflow changes. So there may not be any need for recompiles, unless the plugins are specific to one of the changed features. (like mesh smooth)

well between max 4 & 5 there also was no recompile needed...
but some advanced plugins still didn't fully work.

Now you tell me about the plug-ins.
I had to renew my subscribtion about 1 1/2 months ago and nobody could tell about the plug-ins. So I didn't renew it. I had this vision of having yet another buggy software version on the shelf because I couldn't affort to buy all the plug-ins again.

ah well, I'll skip a year and wait for 8 ( I wish they would just do bug fixes like the old days, a 6.2 would be interesting).
