You are asking in the wrong place; we have an NDA with Autodesk so we can't really share anything until the release is out or Autodesk decide to share something themselves.

    Best regards,

Well, they had 12 months and millions worth of subscription money, so it should be the bomb of a release.

I'm not getting my hopes up - they laid off the Shanghai team after 2017 shipped, and the PM went earlier this year.

They're recruiting again, but judging by comments elsewhere it seems that Maya gets preferential treatment to Max, especially based on income from Maya rentals/subs.

Guess we'll find out tomorrow, but after the announcement of the maintenance subs going up and up, the feature set is the least of my worries.

I am not grasping the whole pay a couple grand per year no matter what, methodology. Leasing software? What a great idea... for the investors!

3dsMax will now only be shipping with edge, face and polygon components in editable poly, vertex usage may require an additional 3D party plug-in and license,
                - The colours Blue and Green are included free, but Red will require an additional license.
                - Imperial measurements will continue to be provided free, but Metric is going to cost extra.
                - You will still be able to use groups, but will be limited to one group in product, additional groups may be purchased from the new "store" feature.
                - CTL+ALT+DEL is a feature we will be removing in 2018, if MAX freezes in production, additional subscriptions can be purchased. To help streamline this process for the busy studio our development team have be working tirelessly on more "Crash to Desktop features" to save you from unnecessary additional subscriptions.
                - the light at the end of the tunnel feature only available to maintenance plan losers, will now be turned off in 2018.

We look forward to your continued support and money - The Autodesk Team
                hahahaha. Very funny !

This! Isn't that why we all pay our subscriptions. I'd love to see how Autodesk subscription payments are filtered through their business. Mostly on Maya improvements no doubt !

Ok, this is what I suspected. I've just confirmed to my boss we won't renew our 3dsmax subscription anymore (we've got the "old" perpetual lic), and stick to 3dsmax 2016 for a while. In front of that, when we see the efforts of Chaos Group on every release, even on "minor" updates ... well, enough of Autodesk crap.

I wonder what is the point of "3sdmax ideas" https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/3ds-max-ideas/idb-p/164 forum if nothing was done from all those posted ideas during this year ?!
