The problem is not that Blender is free, but that it uses the GPL open source license which is incompatible with commercial software. The GPL license requires any plugin for Blender to also be open source. We are lucky because we can do this for V-Ray by making the actual V-Ray translator in Blender open source, and it outputs V-Ray scene files which are then rendered with V-Ray Standalone. However we can only do this because of the specific way in which a renderer works. Other plugins like ForestPro would be a lot more complicated to implement.

I don't know. It's not 4K compatible, so I can't even try. I know that strangely enough, the 3DS MAX icon is the same as 2017; don't they change that every year?

4k is working fine for me @glorybound.
Maybe right-click on the 3ds Max 2018 icon and make sure that 'Disable display scaling on high DPI settings' isn't enabled. Just a wild guess. I have no idea why it might not be working.
When I first installed 2018, the dialog box where I entered my serial number was non high-DPI compatible but after that everything seems to be working fine.Steve Burke

That button isn't checked. Odd that mine isn't working. The help says that MAX will auto detect the dpi, but it's not for me.

Plugins need to be recompiled. We plan to release official builds with V-Ray 3.6 a bit later on, but in the meantime if you email us to support@chaosgroup.com we can provide you with an experimental build.

and again... you get new max, then wait half of the year to get all plugins you're using recompiled and soon new max is out... why if they don't change anything plugs always need to be recompiled?Luke Szeflinski
