  • Viewing 360? Stereo panoramas rendered with VRay on HTC Vive

    Hi,
I'm looking for a free app to view those kinds of images on my Vive. I tried sView and the free version of Whirligi now and both seem to display these images but they just don't feel right. I can't define it - they look different and more wrong than when viewed through VRay RT Live View in the Vive. I tried cube maps and spherical maps rendered according to the guide document of Chaosgroup for VR. I'm somehow at a loss. All I want to do is view that friggin image properly. What apps/formats do you use?
    Software:
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
    3ds Max 2016 SP4
    V-Ray Adv 3.60.04

    Hardware:
    Intel Core i7-4930K @ 3.40 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 (4096MB RAM)
    64GB RAM

If you could find the reason for what is looking wrong, maybe than one of the tools could get a fix.

You could try the free service of vrto.me. If this doesn't work too, than maybe your Vray output is wrong.

I'm interested on a working sView workflow.

What do you mean by "one of the tools"?
I also tried vrto.me, also seems to look kinda wrong.

The thing is I am not very experienced in producting VR content or in stereo images in general. If I could send someone with a vive a stereo panorama to look at maybe they could tell me if I'm being retarded or what's wrong with it.

One of the tools means it could be a problem at Vray or the viewers and if we know what the problem is we could look for a solution. If you like you could post a side-by-side spherical or cube panorama here for checking.

Do you guys all use "None" as the focal method in the VRayStereoscopicHelper? I thought maybe that's the issue since it actually could look like I focus "directly in front of my head". Or does this only have to do when rendering with DoF or the likes?
