  • Parti, a VR architecture series for gear VR & daydream

We've been chipping away at a side project VR app in our miami studio and finally launched it today. The plan was to start a series that offers an insight into the design concepts & process behind architecture, presented as a guided tour by the architect. The idea is to release one a month with each issue focusing on a new building. I know a bunch of people here have VR headsets and might be interested in checking it out. it's a small experience but could be the start of a more regular thing that grows in size with each issue.

The first issue went live today - it's a small but incredibly beautiful house in Miami.
There's a teaser video and links available here (blatant shilling of our facebook) - https://www.facebook.com/dboxvr/vide...4522515169597/

Gear VR / Samsung store link available here - https://www.oculus.com/experiences/g...7597723606634/
If you have a google pixel grab it from this link - https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ol1Brill&hl=en
While it will work on google cardboard for other android phones, it'll run terribly on nearly all of them so we really dont recommend it. once we do some more testing we're going to block access to any devices that it doesn't perform well on.

It was all shot with a custom stereo camera rig at eye height - it's fully stereoscopic & designed to be experienced standing up.

We've got 2 more issues nearly finished featuring projects by Chad Oppenheim & OMA (we shot them a while ago and are waiting for scheduling to work out in order to record audio)
Issue 4 is almost ready to shoot, getting access scheduled this week, but we're going to record audio at the same time. There's a chance that one might end up being #3

I posted this in off topic - but we did actually use vray on this to scale down & convert our left & right eye 360 images to cubemaps ! produced the cleanest result by some distance.
