  • Find a normal map in my scene

    Hello,

I have a big scene and I just want to find a normal map in my scene. I have a warning so I know that normal map map is in my scene !
But can I find it ?

    Thanks
    (Sorry for my bad english)

Slate editor -> get all scene materials, look through the the bitmap previews and find one that looks like a normal map.

Alternatively, you can look through your assets folder and rename the normal map in there.

The first one is not possible, really big scene with a lot of material
(I forgot to say that I'm not at the origin of this scene so ....)
The second one is a lot of works for me for the same reason

I thought more about script or command line .... I don't know ...

Okay, I see what you mean. I don't know of any scripts as I don't think 3ds max exposes the actual image properties to the user (I may be wrong), and even then, there are no defining properties that would tell you that it's a normal map that I can think of, I mean it still has RGBA channels, image size varies, gamma varies etc..

The only thing I can think of is that someone from Chaosgroup will be able to find out what texture is causing the issue.

        Now we wait

        Cheers.

You coud use the 3ds max material explorer, it lets you search for maps by name.

Reading peoples posts it looks like that script no longer works, see above.

To add, sometimes if you have hundreds of mapson a scene, this can cause Max to freeze when you begin typing it in the search box, so if you know the name of the map exactly (or part of it), copy-paste instead.

You can list all sorts of materials in your scene using a script: Modifier Modifier Zorb

                    Kind regards
