Bobby, your policies sound very professional and reasonable. I think that makes a good and necessary impression on clients. They know they are working with a legitimate professional from the start. That's what
I try to project as well by always providing written proposal/ agreement for service and 50% deposit.
It sounds like you are a lot busier than I am and work for people from a wide range of locations and etc. my situation I occasionaly may get booked up a few weeks in advance but can often start right away and want to do so. IOW it's not a one size fits all. what you are doing sounds reasonable and also a best business practice strategy. Why change it?
Good to hear that I am not off on some island by myself
Alessandro, the books are very well done. I bet they are on edition 20 or more. They may be overkill for many. Very comprehensive and covers wide range of graphics industries.
There are some interesting posts in here. I didn't realize the Graphic Artists Guild had resources like that. I should probably look into this. In Portland the industry is so small that this has never been an issue for me but perhaps it's time to broaden my horizons.
How about discounts for many houses? I get that asked all the time. I say that if you bundle them I can discount. Someone today asked about 30-40 houses. I would discount, let's say 20%, if they sign all together. In this case maybe not 50% down, but 33% would work. Maybe another 33% 1/2 way through and the balance when I am done.
