I have a small network with win2000 pro as the server right now I'm using netbeui to have them talk to one another.

I have a xp pro I want to connect and use as a small render farm with the win2000. Right now the xp pro can't see the win2000 because i have it set up with netbeui. One of my other machines is a xp home and is very slow to connect to the win2000. (I can see the other XP home machine fine and I can ping the win2000 with the xp pro.) edit: Oops I forgot to turn off my firewall

So my question is, Is there a better way to connect a win2000 machine to XP than netbeui since Microsoft isn't supporting it any longer? (I can't seem to find that much information on google about this that is clear)

what does MAX like as a setup?

    thanks for any help.

alright never mind the first post. I pretty well have it figured out except one small aspect which is if I type in the location of my machine (I.E. mymachineshare) it pops up. but it doesn't show up if I click on the workgroup icon. does anyone know what that's about?
edit: hehe I figured that out as well. bloody firewalls
