        okay...I'll do it.

Yes Plastic, I think the idea of comparison between Maxwell and VRay with this scene and this view would be illuminating. (no pun intended!)

And yes again...the lunar position was absolutely random and thrown in at the end. Sort of a Photoshop whim.

Finally, yes, the sky is entirely produced inside Maxwells renderer and can be selected at will. By that I mean that the location, longitude, latitude, time of day, month and etc can all be dialed in by the end-user.

        very neat really.

I chose the 8 hour rendering time quite arbitrarily. I tried 2 hours and found that the image lacked some focus. I went to 4 hours and saw a bit of difference. Not knowing a great deal about how to tweek the rendferer, I decided to push it up to 8 hours and let it run overnight. This wa the result. At present I know a bit more about the fine tuning and can probably reduce the overall render time to about 4 hours with much greater control.

As the development team gets farther along and time permits, I'm hopeful that the tutorials will begin to take shape and we can learn from each other as a user community much like the fine help we all enjoy here on the chaos firum site.

I'm just happy that it was 8 hours spend on rendering something OTHER than teapots... I like it...

haha you chimed in on your first post to say that? maybe not the most complex of scenes, but just two cylinders it aint...

the geometry complexity should not matter with maxwell rendering method, only the image size and eventually shader complexity/depth should really have an impact on render time for same render settings.

anyway it's a shame to see 'professionnals' like you *ahem* talking in the back of a product you seems to don't know anything about.

                cheers

I'm sure many here know more about it than you think

brute force methods are always weird in getting the right quality/rendertime my tower was weird. 7 minutes a frame with direct comp for primary and secondary bounces. with only about 15 subdivisions and it still didnt look too bad

I'm beginning to suspect undercover rogue agents have infiltrated this forum for Maxwell and DrapeFX.

now, you have to show the opposit ! ...silence could be interpreted wrongly...

first, he is NOT a Vray user:
i'm not a vray user but i read carefully this forum because of my interest about 3d rendering.

But, maybe He is now a Vray user, since he understood that Vray is the best
