  • Help!

Anyone good at texture mapping and enjoy doing it? Nothing fancy or complicated; just my typical exterior residential. I have a few houses now, but might have 50+ coming down the pike. One house I need done right away. These home builders don't pay a lot, so the margin is thin, so I need someone good, fast, and cheap . The forum email is painful to use, so you can email me at info@bobby-parker.com, if you are interested.

Sounds like you aren't charging enough - can only have two points on the triangle of quality, speed and cost. Clients don't understand this of course!

Yes, I was trying to be funny . I just need someone good to help out when needed. I get emails almost daily from people overseas, but their work is poor.

People are strange about prices. They say, "I love your work, but I have people committed to do the project for a fraction of your price". One guy wanted me to do the exterior of his houses for $150 per house, which as he said, "is the going price". Others say, "Oh, I thought you would be more expensive". It seems to be a balancing act.

Tell the $150 guy you want the name of the people doing work for that price so you can start farming your projects out to them to increase your profit margins. LOL

Same here Bobby. We can be 3x more than our competitors on one job and then half the cost on the next. After 20 years in the trade, pricing is still often a 'finger to the wind'!

I think people pay for much more than an image. Your images have to be good, but they also need to trust you. They need to know you'll make their deadline and that there will not be any surprises. Cheap always comes out expensive and some understand that. I have had people come to me from others that simply bail on their project. Deadlines being missed and then they go missing. 100% guarantee means nothing when the deadline is missed and nothing is delivered. Paper and pencils are cheap, but not anyone can create a nice drawing. Software and hardware isn't as cheap, but it is a low entry point, but not anyone can produce a successful rendering.
