The 1080 is over $642 now and the 980ti is at $203

Actually. it'll almost buy the 1080Ti. I wonder why they would pay that if $100 more would get you the 1080ti, which is 30% faster.

            Bobby,

If the prices are now looking too good to be true (i.e. more than the average they normally go for) I'd be suspicious that someone isn't trying to sabotage your auctions.

I've just taken a look at the bidding history of the 1080 and the current leading bidder has zero feedback (so has he/she just joined ebay in the last couple of days ?).

Were I you (I'd make some enquiries) - email that User and find out more - if no reply, I'd be tempted to cancel his/her fake bids and let genuine people who are actually going to buy the item see a realistic current high bid.

Otherwise, what might end up happening is that you'll get that fake bidder winning the auction (which still has 5 days to go) and then never intending to pay or receive the item - i.e. a timewaster.

$450 is the norm that card should fetch - a bit more maybe, but not 1080ti prices !

eBay is pretty safe. I mean, I don't ship unless the money hits paypal. The highest bid was biding against himself, however, he isn't alone. The bid right before his last one has been a member for 17 years. Who knows, maybe these cards are worth more in China.

I emailed him, asking him not to waste my time and he detracted his bid. Probably a 10-year-old in his parent's basement.

I see a pattern. Someone is bidding low, using a different account and over bidding so nobody else will give it a second look. After 6 days they are withdrawing their insanely high bid. Guess what? 6 days in they are the low bidder and can win. They can cancel up to 12 hours before the end. Basically, the last 12 hours is what will count. I am wondering if people just stop watching if the bid gets too high. I called eBay and they said that it is perfectly within their policy. From now on I will not sell overseas. These bogus bids are from China.

if you go for the Titan X make sure you get the Pascal version. nvidia were rather lazy and you might accidentally buy a Titan X using Maxwell architecture. I would personally buy a 1080ti, it's meant to be a touch faster and cheaper.

I got my 1080ti today. It's too big for my case, so I have to leave the side panel off, which sucks. I looked into the Titan X, however, I was reading that it cost 30% more and was only 5% faster.

Wow, what a pain.....yeah, I wouldn't sell to certain countries either.

But I noticed my final bid predictions were pretty close

Enjoy the 1080 ti - I've got 4 of those and plan on making it to 7 so my renders can be lightning fast

You must have a huge case for those? How are you using them? Will V-Ray use all of them for stills?

Not at all - I've got a Corsair Vengeance C70 - I can fit 4 1080ti's to the mobo I have but with them being double thickness 3 of the 7 pci slots are concealed by those 4 gpus.

The way to get access to all 7 slots is to use riser cables and mount the cards away and off of the mobo and on an open rig, that in my case will be right beside my PC case.

There's a great thread on this subject which I contributed to here - https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...to-build/page3

And here is one image of my design I posted there - https://forums.chaosgroup.com/filedata/fetch?id=959966,

It gets quite complicated Bobby in that you have to use more than one PSU to provide all that power (and you can see where I have made space for 2 of those, just for the 7 gpus. There'll also be the 3rd PSU for the mobo.....

I used them for my first RT project (4 x 1080ti's were rendering my scene in 6 minutes). Once the project was over, I tested the same view using CPU (Production - as I would have rendered previously) and that same image took 25 minutes........

So, definitely for me, the way to go, and especially good for seeing instantaneous feedback (esp for material creation, lighting etc).

With 7 gpus I'd expect that same scene to render in around 4 minutes.
