  • 3dsmax Suggestion

I know, I know this is not 100% V-Ray related lol but I think this is a worthwhile request. On Autodesk's Area forum of basically being able to Sync and import/export user settings in 3dsmax, like keyboard shortcuts, menu preferences, colours... and would love to see more people chime in on it and get the status elevated even more to eventually have AD implement it.

It would make upgrading to the next release easier. That's why I am still on 2017.

Thats the main thing that drives me nuts is when they change too much and I cant just reuse the settings from the previous version and have to take the time to sit down and edit all the colours and keyboard shortcuts ( I remap a lot of keys lol)

You can bring over just your keyboard shortcuts to most new versions of Max. Just export/import the individual kbd file created in your UI folder. That being said, I always thought the whole point of Max redoing their UI code was to make it easier to go up a version. I haven't seen any benefit of that at all. It's pretty painful for the studio when we go up a version because we have to give a decent amount of downtime for the artists to recreate their Max setups every year.

Thats why I was trying to get people to vote on getting this accelerated. This should have been done long ago.
