We have a problem with networkrendering here. I´m trying to use the scripts I got together wit max to make the renderservice to go down when somebody is logged in and to go on again when you log out. I can only make it work when you log on to the local computer but all the logins ar on our domain. Does anybody have any idea on how to solve this?

    verry thankfull

    Hi roppin,

We have just a simple solution, we make everyone log onto a "farm" login when they are leaving the computer, it just has a shortcut to server in it's startup folder.

just do a search here for "low priority" - there's a link to a script I did that will set max to low system priority so if someone's using the machine, it goes to the background

there is also a scheduling feature in the backburner manager so you can set when individual machines are available for backburner rendering

Dynedain, do you have a method to keep Max from popping up all the time and interupting their work?

If you have backburner running as a service (as a particular user rather than 'interact with the desktop'), and if you make sure show buffer is unchecked when you send the render, It won't pop up on their desktops

It´s hard o do that as this is a school of boute 400 students. whith logins to different domaines.

Dynedain, I will look at this script I dont know how it woorks but I understand that it goes in to processes and set the rendering to low priority. does it work even if your logged in as a user whith no authoring rights?

              thanks

yep...all it does, is when max gets launched, it forces max to check to see if it is being run as a render server, if so - max sets itself to low priority, otherwise it does nothing
