We have a pretty meagre set up in terms of hardware here - my colleague and myself have two desktop PCs each and a 5th mini pc that runs our various licenses. Up until now we've been using LogMeIn Pro to connect to or turn on these 5 machines when we want to monitor the progress of renders or if either of us are working from home and need access to files...etc.

LogMeIn have been steadily increasing their prices in the last few years, which has been fine so far, but they're set to double what we're currently paying (from ?250 pa to ?500) and it's just too steep for me. Does anyone here have any recommendations or experience for similar services that might be a more affordable option?

How about Windows remote desktop?

The iPhone/iPad app is pretty decent.

We use windows remote desktop. The color reproduction is flawless and it's the only one that runs in near real time, there's pretty much no latency and I can actually work through it / see viewports. logmein is terrible.

Excellent. Thank you guys, I will look into using Windows own option (something I never thought I'd say!).

I must confess, we've been using LogMeIn for so long that I'm completely out of the loop.

Never ahd a problem with teamviewer

yeah i use remote desktop when on home network and teamviewer when not..used to use logmein until their prices went too far.

Thanks all, I've done some testing today and it looks like Windows Remote Desktop through a VPN is absolutely perfect.
