  • Music for animations?

    Hi Guys,

Do you use music for your animations?

If so, what? Do you make your own or download it? How do you get around copyright?

NOTE : This is not a Vray question. Is it OK posting questions like this in this forum?

      Hi Natty,

Well, it's for an interactive CD that contains flythroughs and a flyround for a residential development.

The client has asked for a backing track and I don't want to put a short piece of music on. I suspect people will be viewing this CD for several minutes and I don't want the music to do their heads in.

Do you know of any good websites that give out cheap or free music. (and I mean legal). I do not want to break any copyright laws.

I suspect something mellow background music would be appropriate. Elevator music with a modern feel.

This is exactly what I have searched for two days ago. We have to put some kind of music into a short 3D Animation for our customer. I searched the web for legal royalty free music, but did not find good songs (modern dr'n'bs/ambient track with rythm, but not heavy/hard).

We have a large library of blue-valley music here at the company. But they are years old and not up to date I think
They have a large range of music. But there are just a few good modern dr'n'bs tracks (e.g. "shockwave"). Just have a look at http://www.bluevalley-filmmusik.de/ .

Unfortunately I do not know any company who gives away roalty free music for free. But I think it stands to reason that nobody gives away his music for free!

For private projects I always create the music by myself. That's the cheapest (but most time intensive) way.

at the office i used to work for we used to use the firstcomm music collection. we had about 1000 CDs or more. you can buy single songs from their site i think.

Another option is to find some music you like from some lesser known artists on one of the free mp3 sites and just ask the artist for permision, they are often happy to have their music out there.

Well we now have seen that getting gema free music rather is a longer process, esp when you dont know how often and when your animations will be shown.

now we´ve done the connection to a younger french musiker who makes real good musik for us...

he realy doesnt take much money and works fine.

the musik this way seems to fit perfect to your compositing and your animations. of cours others would like other musik more.....

                  he speeks german and french.

his website is http://www.l-odo.com/ well not very well done if you ask me. but his musik is good.

here´s an example of an animation of us, he did the musik for.

Good luck maybe this is good for someone of you.

                    Äh......

Just noticed, the music on the film of our website, still isnt the musik our musicien did. it still is the pre musik we put on it to give him an idea of the direction we wanted to have.

hmm ill see if i can do another link.
