  • Max 2016 - 2016.0.5 update

So, yesterday I made the mistake of updating max2016 with the "2016.0.5" update.
It took a long time for the update to apply. After that, Max 2016 simply will not start. Start it as normal, and the cursor appears like it's going to open, but then nothing opens, and in the task manager, there are no instances of max.

I uninstalled max 2016 and installed fresh, and did not apply that update. The problem remains and I may gradually switch over to 2018, but has anyone else had this issue with 2016?

Waiting for Microdesk "tech support" but wanted to post here as tech support initially seemed stumped.
    Thanks in advance

Isn't this something to do with UAC in Windows ? I might be a million miles off because I don't use 2016 (or 2018 for that matter).

Jez I don't know...The only thing that changed that day was, installing that update, which somehow broke max2016. No changes were made to windows UAC. I'm going to try a "Clean" uninstall next...
      Thanks!

Sorry dude, I can't be much help, but it's just something I have in the back of my mind.

If you go to UAC and change the permission type, and then retry staring 3DS Max - I seem to remember having issues like this before and back then I spoke with Autodesk about it and this is what I remember having to do.

Sorry to be so vague, but it's worth a try before you start uninstalling and reinstalling etc.

Well, I tried everything and just gave up and moved on to 2018, which is a nice improvement, so far.
Just before removing 2016 I tried to run it and it now works again. I don't know what was going on, but I tried the clean uninstall several times and it never worked. Then several days later, it started to work again. Odd.
          Thanks for your efforts JezUK.
