      I don't think in that article he is questioning whether or not there is 10 cores but more whether or not the technology is practical at this time. Me I'm looking forward to a 100 playstation farm in the future

          not ps3, just linux. The playstation runs on linux.

            I think that it would have to be compiled specifically for the cell processor. This would be such a cheap alternative to a render farm even if the ps3 cost $1k but I would imagine that some of those 8 other processors are specialized to some extent and may only accept data from certain inputs. If this is the case I think Vlado would have to write some form of translator for each. Not sure though, just a few assumptions.

              if vlado rewrote for linux and released the packages as source tarballs (but I dont know how he would and still protect his code) it could theoretically be compilied on the client machine for any processor - assuming the proper libraries and compilers are in place
