    Anybody had any luck importing the new sketchup 2018 files in max?
    I have a new sketchup 2018 file to import into max, the file is 340mb and seems to big to open on there new free web based sketchup option.

    I save down the SketchUp file to version 2015.

      Yeah, you have to save down. If you don't have SK, you can upload to Googe Warehouse and it'll do it for you.

        thanks yes, I tried to upload, but the online thing kept bombing out. It is a huge file, with geometry imported from revit, and then drawn over in sketchup for changes....

          The SketchUp Free version is umm... free. I'm pretty sure you can save down versions using SketchUp Free. Purging the file before saving down might also reduce the file size. You could also Copy and Past In Place chunks into another document to break it up into smaller files.

            It would be nice, but you can't. The figure that if you are converting 3D files you are a pro.

                  Install free sketchup make and save it in earlier version. Just like mentioned purge it or cut in few parts and save in version you can open in max. I had some big files in the past that was taking few hours to import so in that case just have to be patient.
