    4. final render cost per view

You cannot render a final without all the stages before that. Never had any issues with this quote structure!
    Ditto.

    I split it up in:

    1. Modelling the project
    2. Modelling the environment (if needed)
    3. Lighting
    4. Texturing/Shaders
    5. Camera's
    6. Postproduction
    7. Extra's (Photoshoot / Droneshoot / ...)
    8. Price per view

Never had a misunderstanding that way either.

I have never had a client ask me to break something down. Usually, I have an item and a description. An item like 'exterior rendering' and description like 'front ground level'. I might have several 'exterior rendering' items and the description would be different on each.

In my opinion you need to 'train' the client to let him know how the process works, this makes it easier to communicate and makes him understand what you are doing. Leaves a lot less room for discussion in the end when things like changes in the design or materials, extra or less views,..etc are asked.

Yes - training clients is important. Amazing how many play the 'ignorance card' to their advantage. Mind you, I do the same

I have been thinking about the breaking down examples, and I don't think I would do that if asked unless I really wanted/needed their project. It's like asking the baker to break down all the ingredients to the cake he is baking. One frustration of mine is when people lower their value when they get experience and things become easier for them. What business is it of my client how much time I spend modeling something? I mean, I model with my eyes closed and sometimes in my sleep. I have been doing it for 25 years, so I am pretty fast. What, are they shopping each part of my process to see if they can get that part done cheaper? They are commisioning me to create a visual for them and that is what they are paying me for. IDK IMO (I have teenage kids)

I use the first view costs X and subsequent view(s) cost Y per view. Y view pricing assumes X view has already been completed. Never had anyone not understand this or try to manipulate it to take advantage.

i do limited breakdown. Less than what some have posted above. I do break out site photography and add line item for custom furnishings

That is my usual protocol, however, I got lazy on this one. However, they knew what we agreed on. I guess I have to see the quote as a legal document and create it with that in mind.
