  • difference in 3DSMAX viewport performance beween DX9 and DX11 ?

I was wondering what was the difference in terms of display / performance / etc ... between choosing DX9 orr DX11 for the viewport display drivers ?

i'm asking because i have this lagging problem, and couldn't find anything relevant of what could cause the problem. But when in DX11 the viewport are lagging depending on the viewport configuration : the only configuration that doesn't lag everytime is if i only have one viewport visible.

So if anyone has any insight of what miight the problem be : give it a shot.

for the info here are the specs of the machine :

    windows 10
    i7 6850 3.60Ghz
    64 GO ram
    3 x Geforce GTX1080 8go

DX11 is suppose to be faster. (apparently)

DirectX in general is suppose to be faster. In the old days before Nitrous, I often switched my display to OpenGL instead as it was LOADS FASTER for certain tasks. Nowdays the latest is suppose to be the greatest. Try keep the display as shaded with edges, that was suppose to be the fastest. Wireframe or shaded only, is typically slower. Although with Max 2018 onwards, I think they changed that
