  • Choasgroup buying out Fstorm

    Met with some Russian guys today, they are also using almost all the engines on this planet you can think of, one of them said he was just in Bulgaria for some meetups, not sure what that was but CG guys, and the talk was Fstorm and the new vray next engine trying to play catchup, one thing that emerged was that soon look for chaosgroup buying out Fstorm, I remember that was the talk when corona came out and look what happened, everyone here was corona is this and corona is that, never gona happen etc etc, sooooo, i wonder i wonder......... haha, was interesting to have those talks but i know its not impossible

            Yeah, if you go to the site you can't actually download FStorm, you have to email him and he'll send you a link.

                I'm not 100% sure. The article stated it was still ongoing, but that was from last year. I have no idea what happens with stuff like this when you lose in one country but win in another.

                  If he isn't seeling it online, you would think it is still in the courts. Just speculation.

                    The courts in NZ did a terrible job of the case, the otoy folks were pointing out code in octane that was the same as fstorm but it was standard 3dsmax code that you use to access stuff like the render panel or materials, literally ANY renderer you write will have that code in it.
