i (unfortunately) have to share display and rendering duties on the same gpu.
my current scene, in max 2016, uses about 10 -20% gpu ram, and less if i load it as bounding box display mode. therefore rendering isnt affected too badly.
i decided to move over to 2018.. opened same scene and ate up around 90% of my gpu ram just for viewports, with no reduction for bounding box mode. therefore 2018 is unusable for me.. is this a known issue?
