Its not that hard. You animate everything by hand pretty much coming into place. I would build a house model first then do it backwards, that way you already have the final position. Of course you can do it however, you just need a large number of assets to drop into place.
I agree with Dmitry, any time Ive done anything like that I start with everything complete and work backwards then just revers the film after as long as you don't have any fire effects or water as they can easily spotted if they are running backwards.
