  • Gpu Render different from CPU

    Hi There

I am using vray next with max 2019 on 2 1080s . This is the first time I am using vray gpu. I am doing some product renders and when I render with the GPU the products look like they have a push on them or look slightly bloated, The reflections are also shift slightly. I am not sure whats causing this, I am using vray physical cam and some pretty standard setups with the materials and lights.

    Thanks

V-Ray GPU goal is not to match V-Ray result 1:1 and it will never will (it is a different render engine). Differences might be cause by different algorithms, features or it might be bug.
Thats why switching to V-Ray GPU mid project often does not work ideal - there will always be some difference to V-Ray.

If you want to use CPUs for rendering, that match V-Ray GPU result, you have to enable the C++/CPU device in the list of V-Ray GPU devices (and use hybrid rendering).

Ok thanks, more than the changes in reflection I was concerned about the change in size. But your point is taken its better to stick to one. I thought i did enable the cpu in the gpu render I will try again.

Sure. Do not expect V-Ray results to match completely V-Ray GPU results.
If you feel something is a bug though, please share it so we can take a look.
