  • Documentation settings for samples

The documentation shows many rendered examples. Is there a way to acquire the settings for a particular example?

I would like to know exactly what settings were used to create the 3rd Vorticity example on the dynamics page. I have been trying to recreate it, and it is very time consuming.

I have attached the image I would like to see the settings for, this will help with learning the effect of scale, grid resolution, outgoing velocity, and other parameters.

PS: It would be awesome if ALL documentation samples had corresponding files for learning purposes, and the HDRI environments used to render them if that is the case.

    Thanks!

    Hey,

I agree, we gotta attach the scenes too. Let me see if I can find that one, it's a couple of years old...

Hey again, here you go: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1qB...GKpMHEJWeAyC-L

This is the scene that is used, you just need to enable the classic Phoenix GPU preview in the lower left viewport, where the animation was taken from (it was not rendered), and also set the preview Detail Reduction to 0.

You should be able to get similar results by just dialing in the values from the 3 examples into the Dynamics rollout.

Note that when rendering the scene as it is originally, you will get dark noise on the smoke because the V-Ray Min Subdivs are set to 1, Phoenix's External Scatter Mult is set as low as 0.1, and the Simple Smoke Opacity is set to the max - 1. I've set these so that it renders as quickly as possible, so you can up the subdivs and re-enable the Phoenix light cache so that you get a prettier render.

      Cheers!
