  • Settings for clay rendering

    Hi,

I am using sketchup + v-ray 3.4. I would like to get a very simple result - similar to ones in the images I attached. Maybe someone has some advice on how to get something similar for my images? I have been trying things out, but for now the intersection of planes and inner corners are quite shady, and in some places just blend over one another. Any advice is appreciated.

    Hello,

First of all, I highly recommend using the latest version 3.60.03. It is a free upgrade for all V-Ray 3 users.
Making a "clay" or scale model scene relies heavily on how its lighting is set up.
Less crucial but still important are the materials used - make sure they are not too bright. Depending on the look you wish to achieve you can try utilizing raytraced textures such as Dirt, Edges, Falloff or Toon material, Ambient Occlusion effect, etc.
If you show a WIP of yours perhaps some of the forum users can give you more specific advice.

    Kind regards,
    Peter
