Why no rendering in layout views?

A typical use for renderings is illustrating elevation drawings. So why can't layout views be rendered?

Rendering a layout view is simply not achievable. V-Ray is able to render a single viewport at a time based on its camera and size settings. Having a layout with multiple views or insufficient render data does not allow the V-Ray to properly process the model.
For elevation renders you can utilize V-Ray by setting the viewport projection to Parallel.
