  • Volumetric heat haze artifacts

Hi. dunno why i cant post on the :: Problems forum. So ill post here. Im having an issue that seems to be happening to any geometry that is located inside the fire/smoke simulator when the rendering is set to the Volumetric Heat Haze option.

Here are some pics showing the vertical lines on the surface of the small teapot at frame 1(before any emission has happened) and at frame 61. The emitting object is an invisible box and only the small teapot is inside the simulator.

Is this an issue with my scene setup or is it a known/unknown issue? im using 3ds max 2018.3, vray next 4.02.04(Not Vray Next GPU) and phoenixFD(vray next version) for 3ds max 3.11.00.

I also uploaded a render from a second scene where the problem is a bit harder to see. But still there on the vent(dark lines). And its definitively visible on animations
The material on the vent is just a gray VrayMat without any textures. The red plane is not inside the simulator

        Thank you,
thank you. looking forward to a fix. in the mean time i guess i can work around the problem by positioning the simulator+source slightly outside the geometry

Yes, offsetting the geometry position should help.
