  • What is still missing?

    Hi,
The first (with the violet pillows) visualization is mine, the second one is by Helmie Halim. Both are made in Vray. I cannot figure out what is still missing in mine. I think it's quite good, but it's too smooth, too perfect, too artificial. I don't know if it's the vray settings, the light or postproduction. Could you share with me your observation? Thanks.

The problem is shadow&hilights.. İt can be done with photoshop using curves layer.. Or use frame buffer color correction controls - curves..

Light settings are important too, if you want natural looking resault, do not add any light source except the real positions.. Some ps touches..

left and right halves of the frame are a bit unbalanced. showing too much of the kitchen I guess. or too much is happening on the sofa (imagine removing all the pillows). lamp being contrasty dark spot in the center does not help either.

Thank you for your opinion. I also think shadows are too bright. I always use frame buffer correction controls, but it helps only a bit. PS is always needed. Thank you

Yes, you are absolutely right, but sometimes the client needs us too show more of the room. Anyways I'm not good in framing.

hey, I'd be very happy sharing my humble opinion. From my point of view the difference are the small details and some textures....

              Textures:
Carpet, drape and floor looks like they have use a better/more developed texture....

              Details:

Your carpet is flat, not any wrinkles like the other.
Your cushions....well they are well known in the sketchup warehouse... look how different they look in the other visual
stuff on the table is more realistic in the other image...
In another hand I would have got rid of the light from your left side...looks artificial... I'd play with the white balance(that's photoshopping basically)

PLEASE understand that this is easy to say and to point out than to do it.... Your visual looks quite great!!

The last thing, may be, just may be they used brute force and you irradiance map??More pixels? more time rendering?

                Hi
                Thank you for your opinion
You are so percipient about the irradiance map. I am used to it and a little bit scared of brute force (thaaat long time). The artificial looking light on the left is a light from the bathroom, just to mention, that there is one there. looks a little bit like a morning sun, right (the second one in this case )?
                You mean higher resolution textures?
It is very good to hear out what others think, when I work on my vizualisation I come to a point I connot be objective
I had some time the other day to work with this image in Photoshop Camera Raw filter. It also did the work.
