  • Unable to edit the background vray sky in Vray 3.4

    Hello,
As stated in the title, I'm having issues with the skybox in vray 3.4.
I set it up hust like I used to do in my old 2.0 version:
-Created a Sun light and set it up (I used CIE Clear as Sky)
    -Background>Sky>Sun Light
    -GI (Skylight)>Sky>Sun Light

Usually (with older versions and also with 3.4) with this setup, I obtained a nice clear sky with the visible sun globe, wich moved as I moved the sun light.
But now, don't know why, I can't manage to get it to work. When settingit up, the background sun remains stuck at the zenit, while the light and shadows in the scene are correct.

Is there some setup I'm doing wrong? Or maybe is it a bug of the 3.4 version and I need to update? Here it is a scene I set up as an exaple of my problem with all the setting I'm using. (The render is pointed at the zenit, to show you that the sun is not oriented as the Sun Light created by me)

    UPDATE:
Since I got home, (where I got an old 2.0 version) I decided to try out the demo of the last version (3.6) to verify if it is a bug of the 3.4 (I've got this version on the PC at my workplace).

And the bug appears also on the 3.6 version. The sun, with that setup (that worked in the 2.0) it's always stuck at the zenit. But, while I was trying, I noticed that enabling the interactive rendering, suddenly the sky sistem and the sun started working again, just to go back to the zenit when disabling the interactive render.

Any solution to this problem? For now, I just replaced the buggy sky sistem with an HDRI image. Luckily, the shadows follow the direction i set for the sun.

      Hi,

      Thank you for the feedback!

We were able to reproduce the issue only when the Rhino Document Sun instance is deleted from the Asset Editor > Lights and then a V-Ray Directional Light is created. Kindly note that we will further investigate this behavior with the developers.

In the meantime, could you copy the project to a new file, 'Revert to Default Render Settings' (Asset Editor > Settings > bottom-left button) and use Rhino's Sun panel to adjust the position and confirm if this resolves the issue?

        Hi.
I always tried in a clean scene with just a sphere, just to verify the bug, and it happened every time with the default rendering options.
Is strange, but I was never able to delete the "Rhino Document Sun" from "Asset Editor > Lights". I can only disable it. And I always kept it disabled.

But following this tutorial (https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...ing+QuickStart) I was able to edit the "Rhino Document Sun" and set the scene I needed.
I don't know why if I create a new vRay Sun it doens't work with the sky, no matter if the "Rhino Document Sun" is enabled or disabled. But working directly with the RDS, I was able to use it as a workaround to generate the scene I needed.

I've tryed just before leaving the office, and I tryed the same thing once back home on the 3.6 Demo version.
