  • Replace/Upgrade Harware

    Greetings!

I can use some advice from you guys, i've been used VfSU on my PC in several years (start in 2013) and currently the rendering process is getting slower, the thread boxes is taking more time to complete the process.
I know the problem is from my hardware (lets face it, i used it for 5 years) and it need to be replaced. My question, i'm not sure which hardware i should replace first. Processor? RAM? or Graphic Card?
Can you guys help me? Thanks

i used Sketchup Pro 2015 with Vray for Skechup 2.0
    my current hardware is
    Intel i7 4770
    Nvdia 650M
    RAM DDR3 8gb

    Hello,

While I cannot advise on any particular hardware models, just want to let you know V-Ray 2.0 for SketchUp will not be able to run its GPU CUDA engine on more recent GPU models (NVIDIA Maxwell-based series).
To determine whether your RAM is sufficient, observe its usage during your daily work (depends on assets used as well as the complexity of your projects).
Upgrading your CPU usually directly improves render times in v2.0.

We've packed a lot of performance improvements in V-Ray 3 for SketchUp. These include Hybrid rendering (utilizing both CPU & GPU simultaneously), Adaptive lights, custom Proxy previews (lightens the viewport), V-Ray Denoiser (cleaner images with lowered settings), a Distributed Rendering manager called V-Ray Swarm, as well as many others. For more info, visit:

You can sign up for a trial at any time. (also note https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...vious+Versions )
Furthermore, you can compare how different hardware setups fare in rendering with V-Ray 3 by looking at the statistics of our official Benchmark tool: https://www.chaosgroup.com/vray/benchmark

Last but not least, be informed V-Ray Next for SketchUp is in active development.

    Kind regards,
    Peter
