  • Export alembic velocity

    hi there

    i have a problem again .

when i export phoenix mesh with alembic type and import it, i don't have motion blur or velocity pass in render. i think that phoenix mesh don't have velocity channel inside itself.

Indeed, even though Max have improved the Alembic support several times these last few versions and updated, there still isn't a way for us as a 3rd party plugin to register our vertex velocities. I have it in my TODO list to research how we can hack that, but can't get there yet..

      thanks sveltlin

my main problem is cache of phoenix in large scale sim, right now, i am having sim with 4 gig cache per frame, but my system (32 gig Ram , cup ryzen 7 1800x) and render farm ( Dual xeon 2650 , 64 gig ram) can't render my scene and max crashes. i forced export liquid mesh with alembic type for render.
please check out this problem for fix it.
if you need to my scene, i will give it to you.

        Hello,

Can you try rendering the scene with a latest nightly build to see if it still crashes? Here is how to get a nightly build - https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...nightly-builds
If the scene still crashes can you send us the scene over to support@chaosgroup.com so we can check it out? Definitely there should be no crashes.

        Thank you,

Hey, just a related update - in the latest Phoenix nightlies there is export of vertex velocity for motion blur to Abc files. You can check more about it here: https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...withmotionblur

          Cheers!
