  • Vray for Sketchup Batch Render Naming Conventions: - vs _

    A simple but frustrating problem:
In Vray 2, it seems that batch render file names used a - between the file name and the scene name. In Vray 3 it seems like they use a _ between the file name and the scene name. I need to do a batch render to over-write render images that are in a Indesign report. I really don't want to rename all of the many images by hand or re-link them. Is there any way to control this? Am I missing something? For example, my Vray 2 batch render file name was: Construction-03B-c01.png. The same file, same scene rendered in Vray 3 is Construction_03B-c01.png.

    Thanks!

    Apologies for the late response.
Consider the use of underscore "_" as expected in all of our naming policies from V-Ray 3 onward.
There is a concept idea about enhancing output naming policy by introducing wildcard characters, however, no agreement on it has been reached yet. More info may be expected at a later date after the next major update.
If you have any suggestions on this matter, please let us know!

On a side note, there are multiple tools and scripts available on the Internet which can handle bulk file renaming.

    Kind regards,
    Peter
