  • Grid adaptation kills wetting

It seems if I use the grid adaptation and wetting the grid will not consider the wetting to be a liquid and quickly resizes the grid killing the new wetting. Any way around this? The wetting is on an animated character.

Hey, indeed the wetmap is not considered by the adaptive grid.

There is an option in the fire/smoke simulator to expand the grid and never collapse back, so sounds like we should port it to the liquid simulator.

For now, the only thing I can think of would be to either make the grid large enough at startup, or to create some liquid in the part of the grid you don't want to collapse, e.g. using a brush source, and then remove it at render time using a Cutter.

    Cheers!

There is an option for "expand and don't shrink" that seems to work for the liquid but my animated character drifts in and out of the grid so it doesn't help all that much.

Ah, okay, if you are in Maya you already have this option - it needs to be ported just for Max.

However, in that case, give the fake liquid source a try.
